The clementine is a citrus fruit that belongs to the Rutaceae family, to the genus Citrus and to the species from which it takes its name, or clementine. Nowadays, the clementine represents the most widespread mandarin orange in the world, since it is characterized by being a hybrid that is obtained thanks to the cross between the mandarin and the bitter orange. The clementine is, in a nutshell, a small-sized tree, which can count on excellent vigor (much more compared to the mandarin), with a crown that is characterized by being particularly expansive and rounded in shape. As for the flowering of the clementine, we must underline how it always occurs quite abundantly, while the fruiting occurs late. The fruit has a round shape, with a particularly smooth skin (while in some cases it is wrinkled), rather thin, which can be detached very easily from the endocarp and which has a characteristic orange colour. The juicy pulp, rather sweet, with an intense and fragrant orange color. The seeds, if present, are rather small in size and pointed at one end.
