Considered a minor and niche product, in some areas of Calabria it boasts a good tradition of cultivation and consumption. A fruit that stands out for its color and above all for its aroma and flavour. The merendella plant has short mixed branches and mainly red bark. Fertilization is basic and is integrated with fertigation. The one produced in June and July is lighter in color, while the one that ripens in August has redder faces. Flowering occurs between late March and early April. The buds are flower-like, the leaves are characterized by a wavy edge with a serrated edge and reniform foliar glands. The flower is medium-sized and of the pinkish type, the color of the petals is pink. The green pruning is carried out for the first time in the months of May, June and serves to remove the suckers, lighten the tips, with the removal of competitive shoots with the arrows.
